Multilingualism is essential for open, heterogeneous, democratic and prosperous societies. While the scientific evidencedemonstrates that the emotion of pleasure is crucial in learning successfully, research shows that a majority of pupils in European schools take little pleasure in learning a language due to language anxiety.
SLS4Teens project aims at improving the teaching-learning of languages using innovative methods of oral learning and of the emotional and affective security of learners. In this project, Master students and active teachers will be trained in 7 innovative modules: role of ICT; intercultural communication; neuroscience-based language teaching and learning; affective factors and motivation in the language classroom; exploring the teaching and learning of grammar; assessment of oral production and Neuro-linguistic approach.

The training modules are designed by 5 partner universities, which will also undertake a research inquiry to explore the impact of these methods. The direct outcome will be the creation of training materials and pedagogical guidelines in 7 innovative approaches. They will be re-usable by active teachers and university students throughout Europe.
From research perspective, the project will help improving the understanding of the foreign language learning among two groups of adolescents: native-born adolescents learning the first foreign language and migrant adolescents learning the language of the country of schooling (allophone pupils).
